A New York judge has ruled that Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, must testify at the civil fraud trial involving her father and the Trump Organization.

The judge, Arthur Engoron, rejected Ivanka Trump's argument that she should not have to testify, saying that she has "clearly availed herself of the privilege of doing business in New York."
"Ms. Trump has been an executive vice president of the Trump Organization for many years," Engoron wrote in his ruling. "She has also served on the boards of several of the Trump Organization's subsidiaries. In these roles, she has had a significant role in the company's operations."
Engoron also said that Ivanka Trump's testimony is relevant to the case. The New York Attorney General's Office is alleging that the Trump Organization engaged in widespread fraud, including inflating the value of its assets to obtain loans and insurance coverage.
"Ms. Trump has knowledge of the Trump Organization's business practices," Engoron wrote. "Her testimony could shed light on whether the company engaged in fraud."
Ivanka Trump's lawyers have said that they will appeal the judge's ruling. The civil fraud trial is scheduled to begin on November 2, 2023.
