The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, looked at data from over 100,000 women in the United States. The women were followed for an average of 11 years.
The study found that the HPV vaccine was 88% effective in preventing infection with the types of HPV that cause cervical cancer. It was also 90% effective in preventing precancerous cervical lesions.
The study also found that the HPV vaccine was effective in preventing other types of cancer, including anal cancer, penile cancer, and oropharyngeal cancer.
The results of this study confirm the previous findings that the HPV vaccine is a safe and effective way to prevent HPV infection and cancer. The vaccine is recommended for all people between the ages of 11 and 26 years old.
If you are 27 years old or older, you may still be eligible for the HPV vaccine. Talk to your doctor about whether the vaccine is right for you.
